My Favorite Series That No One Talks About |YA Fantasy/PRN Edition

Remember that one book that came out like 10 years ago and it changed the reading world forever? I think it was called Twilight or something like that hehehe. That book helped me rediscover reading during a time in my life where I was trying to fit in and be like everyone else. Reading was definitely not cool but I loved it anyway. Fast forward 10 years and I’m still reading & still loving it! So I thought I’d share some of my favorite series that have stayed with me throughout the years. Let’s jump in

The Covenant Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

“Okay. I’m ready to move onto something else, like practicing with knives or defense against the dark arts. Cool things.”
“Did you just quote Harry Potter?”

I’ll just start by saying that I love Jennifer Armentrout. I love her writing style, I love her characters, I love her words. If her name is written on the cover of a book, chances are, I have it. I should also through a disclaimer that there will be a few JLA books in this post because I love her.

Great now that that’s out of the way, JLA had me at mythology. I freakin’ love mythology and everything about it. This series follows Alex, a Half-blood, badass daimon killer. She’s everything I aspire to be, let be real. She funny, and can kick some serious butt. Strong female characters are a MUST for me. I cannot stand the weak “help me I’m a fragile flower” trope. No thanks. JLA has some of the best female characters I’ve ever read. Don’t even get me started on her male characters. Every single one is on my Book Boyfriend list. EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. Which brings me to my next series…

Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout

“Daemon: I checked out your blog.
Katy: Stalking me again, I see. Do I need to get a restraining order?
Daemon: In your dreams, Kitten. Oh wait, I’m already starring in those, aren’t I?
Katy: Nightmares, Daemon. Nightmares.”

There isn’t enough words in the english language to describe how much I LOVE this series. It was a game changer for me. I mean c’mon. It’s about aliens!! But this alien.. *dreamy sigh* This series kicked off my obsession with the hate-to-love trope. Now I can’t get enough! Please do yourself a favor and READ THIS SERIES.

P.S WHY THE COVER CHANGE WHHYYY. I know why but still *sad face*

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

“I spent my life folded between the pages of books.
In the absence of human relationships I formed bonds with paper characters. I lived love and loss through stories threaded in history; I experienced adolescence by association. My world is one interwoven web of words, stringing limb to limb, bone to sinew, thoughts and images all together. I am a being comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction.”

Who’s surprised to see this series made the list? You shouldn’t be. This series is LIFE. Another game changer in that I haven’t been able to find anything like it. Tahereh Mafi created a world I never wanted to leave with characters that I loved. *cough* AARON WARNER *cough*

TM recently announced that she’s writing 3 MORE SHATTER ME BOOKS. I could cry. It’s like Christmas came early this year!! ❤

Honorable Mentions

I’m doing an honorable mentions because I have a few series that I really enjoyed but can’t remember everything about the books because I read them over 3 years ago.

Significance by Shelly Crane

This series is a paranormal romance series that has imprinting and soul mates. I flew through this series (*disclaimer: this series was still new and not complete when I read them*)

Providence by Jamie McGuire

Oh my godddd. This series. It was unlike anything I’ve ever read before. At the time, it was one of a kind and I devoured it! It’s paranormal romance about Angels. Say no more right? *dreamy sigh*

That’s all for now! I highly recommend all of these if you’re looking for an older gem, something that it’s hyped up or plastered all over social media. If you do plan on reading any of them, let me know! I’d love to hear your thoughts! ❤

until next time – xo gabby
